I watched the baby as she sat on her mother's lap in church. Everyone was clapping for a man who had just given a huge donation to the church project. I was quite sure the baby had no idea what was going on but she was looking around and all of a sudden, she was clapping too! Then I was left with a single thought, 'the need for conformity is human nature - of the flesh'.
I looked again and I saw a boy. I knew him and I was well aware that he had been hoping for a financial breakthrough in his family and there the pastor was, proclaiming blessings of financial breakthrough and what? this guy wasn't saying amen or trying to claim the blessings. Why? He was with his "squad" and these guys are only in church because their parents make them come. They never react to anything going on in church. And I thought again, 'me I can do swag o, but not the one that I won't possess my possessions in my Father's house! If that is all I need to complete the swag then please carry it and be going. NO thank you!'
Paul never failed to dish out stern warnings in whatever country he found himself in. Now he's in Rome and he's saying NO! don't try to be like the people of the world, instead, I'll like to add, try to transform them! That, only is when you'll be able to walk in line with God's good, pleasing and perfect will.
